You choose 1 of 4 missions to play, all of them include stopping terrorist plans and traveling through U.S. major cities. There are two kind of levels, the KITT levels and the Michael Knight ones. You get an impossibly short time limit to clear the mission, timer keeps running even in stage select screen. KITT levels are pointless 1st person driving sessions that you enter each time you want to move from a city to another, this parts are beyond boring, KITT has no special skills and the road is completely empty, there are no enemies, obstacles or even background, you see only the road and the skyline. There are some helicopters that appear at all moments made with tiny ugly sprites, but you can't even fight them because KITT automatically shoots and kills them. You must keep driving until you complete the indicated distance, that's all, and it's a waste of time. Michael levels are a primitive stealth game with very tiny sprites in which you have to make him walk from spot A to spot B without being detected by enemies, he has no skills either, he just walks. Once you clear this Michael missions you have to get to the next level, and yes, a new driving part comes. There are many hints that makes me think this game was rushed for release and was clearly unfinished. For example, the empty driving stages, or the fact that when you clear a Michael level, nothing indicates that you won and the level keeps running normally, you just have to assume you won and push the escape button, other weird part is that if the helicopters manage to kill KITT, you still have to keep playing until you finish the level and then you are informed you lose. There is also the awful common bug that if you get out of the road at high speed, the road just disappears from the screen and you see only green floor, and you get no clue how to get back (You are doomed).
